It’s hard to design without seeing the set up, but usually in
a long rectangular shaped room, the best idea is to split
it up into two different areas thereby adding interest and
visual appeal. Group a couch and a couple of chairs,
coffee table and lamps in from the walls in a cozy arrangement near the window end. Get a casing for
the big screen tv so it doesn’t dominate the room and hang
it on the wall across from the couch. In the other half of
the room, place a table, chairs, wall cabinet….perhaps
some games, bookcases, green study type lamps..a
den kind of feeling. Separate the two areas with a long,
narrow table that you can display vases of flowers on.
Also, make sure you have two matching area rugs in
each separate end..this will tie them together.

I have a long room also. (29′ x 16′) I had learned to use accent colors on opposing wall, as well as put furniture on a diagonal. It makes mine look wider. It really opened it up. Maybe you could use that. good luck

a sofa in the middle with a folding dividing ‘wall’ behind it. There are some interesting kinds, like one that each panel folds out to form a table or nick-nack shelf… and another kind that you insert pictures to make a collage. That will separate the room but still leave it open and interesting. Sorry, no links… just very interesting rooms that I have seen.

The simple answer is to make two living spaces. A small dining table can be put near the kitchen opening for the family use and then use comfortable chairs and a small sofa in the other half of the room.

You might want to buy 2 loveseats with a couple of smaller chairs.Place the loveseats across from eah other near the kitchen end and place the tv on the wall that is shared with the kitchen.Place the chairs with a small table in a corner by the window forming a game table or for extra seating.Place a comfy chair in the other corner by the window with a lamp and footstool for a cozy reading area.Your room will be very serviceable and will be broken into three charming areas. You can use a large ottoman or a coffee table between the loveseats. If you place on loveseat against the kitchen wall you may want to place a sofa table behind it and place lamps, etc for decoration and for needed light.Best wishes!
